Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
    •  How old is Christ Community Church? Our church started on May 25th 2008

    •  Where do you meet? We meet at 507 Riverside Drive Mount Airy. A map is included on the main page of our website.

    •  Are you affiliated with any denomination? Yes.  We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.

    •  Why don’t you have Baptist in your name?   We are much more concerned with lifting up the name of Christ than any particular denomination. Yet, we are grateful for our voluntary association with other like-minded (Baptist) churches in the task of getting the gospel out to the ends of the earth. In addition, our support of Southern Baptist causes is not a token commitment we give significant amounts to the Cooperative Program of the SBC, to the Lottie Moon Offering, the Annie Armstrong Offering and to the World Hunger Offering. We also have a number of students who are students in SBC schools studying for various avenues of ministry.

     •  Is Christ Community Church the result of a split? Yes, our church did begin with a number of people leaving another local congregation. We believe that to break off from a church is a very serious matter indeed; however, the core issues at stake that led us to leave were beliefs and practices that are at the heart of the Christian faith. Those issues for which we took our stand unashamedly are: (1) an unwavering commitment to the authority of the Bible; (2) the preaching of the whole counsel of God’s Word, and (3) the freedom to proclaim God’s sovereign grace in salvation.  We left quietly to start a work where those critically important commitments could be carried out faithfully and joyfully, but we seek to harbor no ill will toward our former church, and we faithfully lift it up to the Lord and are focused on the future not the past.

     •  How do most people dress to come to Sunday Services?  There is no particular dress code, and we would encourage you to come as you are.

     •  Do you have a nursery? Yes, we do have a nursery for infants and toddlers during Sunday School and the Worship Service on Sunday mornings.

     •  What do you have for children? We have children’s Sunday School classes that meet from 9AM-10AM each week. Beyond that, we really encourage families to worship together in our main service.

     •  What should I expect in the Worship service? We are really serious about worshipping God according to His Word and by the power of His Spirit.  All of our worship is offered to the One God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit as He reveals Himself to us in the Bible. We seek to sing the Bible, pray the Bible, read the Bible, preach the Bible, and see the Bible (Baptism and Lord’s Supper).  We seek to be neither contemporary nor traditional, just biblical.

     •  What is the preaching style of your pastor?   Our pastor preaches expository sermons where the main point of the particular Bible passage is the main point of his message. He preaches verse by verse, chapter by chapter through entire books of the Old and New Testaments seeking faithfully to proclaim the whole counsel of God.
